Counselling - Adults, Children and young people - Abby Kean
How to get started
Choosing a counsellor can take time. It is personal, and not a 'one size fits all' approach! Once you contact me, we can arrange an initial free 30-minute meeting. This is to enable both of us to assess if we feel comfortable working together.

Qualifications
I hold a Diploma in Humanistic and Integrative Counselling, following five years of in-depth training. I have also completed training for a Diploma in Counselling Children and Young People. I continue to receive ongoing training in IFS (Internal Family Systems).
I am a registered member of BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy). I therefore adhere to BACP and BCPC ethical guidelines.
Therapy work
I run private therapy practices in Bath and Bradford-on-Avon, and facilitate community group therapy in Gloucestershire.
Previously, I enjoyed working as a Community Counsellor and School Counsellor at Off The Record, a Bath-based charity.
I also have 20 years of experience working in teaching, with a focus on health & well-being, pastoral care and special educational needs.
What it’s like to work with me
Relationship is at the heart of what I do. I provide a safe, non-judgemental space in which I can work alongside you to process whatever is going on for you in your life right now. We often also relate this to other experiences and relationships from your past. I believe, given the opportunity in counselling, everyone has the ability to gain insight into behaviours and patterns which will enable them to get to know themselves better and to make the most of life.
Sessions last for 50 minutes. You may choose to see me on a short-term or long-term basis, and this can be reviewed as we go. I usually recommend a minimum of eight sessions.
